About our logo

BHCC logo Image

The  many colors in our logo symbolize the diversity of Burlington. The center is the cross section of a log, and the tree rings symbolize the birth and growth of Burlington over time. The log signifies the production of lumber in Burlington, which was the third largest lumber port in the nation in the 1870s. The green gear surrounding the log stands for the many industries that once lined the waterfront and were spread throughout the city. Surrounding the gear are triangles reminiscent of quilt squares, symbolizing the vital work that women perform in the family, in the service industry, and in the workforce.  Triangles are symbols of stability, but also of movement and innovation – qualities important to the Queen City, now and into the future.
